His latest book is Sergei Sviatchenko: Collages. He is Visiting Professor in Critical Writing in Art & Design at the Royal College of Art, London.
Rick Poynor will speak about the history and reception of First Things First 2000, a manifesto that revisited and extended the 1964 First Things First by Ken Garland. These set out to re-orientate the practice of design towards a more meaningful and critical practice, capable of addressing pressing social, cultural and environmental issues.
