Frances Priest is an artist and designer specialising in ceramics, with an interest in participatory methods of working. Current work explores pattern and ornament in decorative art and design; where it is found, how it is used, the craft process involved in its production and its connection to places, people and periods in history. These interests fuel work across a variety of settings, from gallery exhibition and design commissions, through to residencies and socially engaged projects. Examples of her work are held in national collections including, The Victoria & Albert Museum, The National Museum of Scotland and The Fitzwilliam Museum. Frances will be presenting work at the inaugural Art & Design New York in May 2014 and is currently working with the Living Memory Association, using reminiscence to explore memories of making and craft activities in older generations.
